I was recruited by the Australian Lotus Notes User Group, AusLUG, for their first annual conference. AusLUG president, Mat Newman, recruited me for their project. The conference required various print materials, such as a six foot banner, name tags, a printed brochure, and name tags. I used the Lotus Notes yellow color as a motif and decided on a mesh pattern to symbolize a 'coming together' of national and international delegates. The mesh pattern was also reminiscent of computer circuitry, as well as a previous year's Lotusphere design (Lotusphere is a conference held annually, sponsored by IBM). The Australian globe, which they used as their logo, was also a repeated motif. It was extremely exciting to work along my fellow Lotus Notes - Bleed Yellow! folks all the way in Tasmania, Australia (as well as across Oz). I worked with multiple members of the AusLUG committee on strict deadlines, across multiple timezones. The hours were hectic due to the time difference - Australia was 16 hours ahead of time. There were weeks where I had to work completely overnight in order to coordinate with them. I enjoyed the experience greatly and was proud to be a part of the committee. |
